Hydrogen Generation from Wood Chip and Biochar by Combined Continuous Pyrolysis and Hydrothermal Gasification

چکیده

Hydrothermal gasification (HTG) experiments were carried out to extract hydrogen from biomass. Although extensive research has been conducted on production with HTG, limited exists the use of biochar as a raw material. In this study, woodland residues (wood chip) and wood-chip pyrolysis used in HTG treatment generate hydrogen. This investigated effect temperature (300–425 °C) biomass/water (0.5–10) ratio gas composition. A higher promoted because water–gas shift reaction steam-reforming an increase temperature. The methane concentration was related positively methanation hydrogenation reactions. lower but suppressed carbon-monoxide production. Most reactions that produce consume water, water also affects balance, which decreases concentration. By focusing practical application we attempted by (temperature heating part: 700 °C), syngas obtained hydrothermal above 425 °C.

Speciation of Sulfur in Biochar Produced from Pyrolysis and Gasification of Oak and Corn Stover

The effects of feedstock type and biomass conversion conditions on the speciation of sulfur in biochars are not well-known. In this study, the sulfur content and speciation in biochars generated from pyrolysis and gasification of oak and corn stover were determined. We found the primary determinant of the total sulfur content of biomass to be the feedstock from which the biochar is generated, w...

IBI White Paper: Pyrolysis and Gasification of Biosolids to Produce Biochar

Introduction The need to dispose of human-generated waste streams is growing in line with the expansion of urban population centers. This is particularly true for the byproducts of wastewater treatment. According to the US EPA, there are over 7 million dry tons of biosolids (stabilized sewage sludge) produced per year in the US. In 2004, 49% of biosolids were beneficially used—primarily for agr...

Application of Combined Catalyst/Sorbent on Hydrogen Generation from Biomass Gasification

Air-blown gasification of biomass in fluidized bed reactors produces relatively low concentrations of hydrogen. The combination of a catalyst and calcium-based sorbent is being developed to increase the efficiency of converting producer gas from biomass gasification into hydrogen. The conversion process entails reforming the methane and tar, and converting carbon monoxide into hydrogen by the w...
